An attempt to explain… this

Phalluses are everywhere in Bhutan. We’ll see them again, because there are awesome samples of them painted on the most normal homes. They also tend to hang under the eaves and gently loll in the wind.

Phalluses, complete with semen, are a beloved symbol of fertility. Hence, they’re seen in the countryside and not downtown Thimpu, that is, they can be found on about 90% of Bhutanese houses. In theory. After a while you don’t even see them, but in the beginning, be ready for laughs and smirks of embarrassment, especially if you travel with your young children.
