First tradition: we stop
On our way in, we always stop at the lookout right after the tunnel. We stand, we stare. We admire this awesome view of Yosemite Valley.
Just like when it was "discovered" by the white man, they say.
Thanks to stringent conservation and visitor control measures, the view is the same as that in 1854 when the Mariposa Battalion got here, on the hunt for annoying Indians who were scaring the area’s white settlers.
