The Nepal of today and tomorrow

As we read anew about the deterioration of yet another governmental coalition in Nepal (this one, led by a semi-Communist former architect, lasted longer than most), I am reminded of the mumbo-jumbo look of Nepal. The wires, juxtaposed with the old wood carvings and locally-made bricks, show a side of the Kathmandu basin that feels more real than the pictures we’ll see over the next few days. In the never-ending pyramid of dos and musts, the middle-class and upper-class Nepalese leave their small country for medical care to India these days. And our Indian friends go for medical check-ups in Europe or the US.
