The Japanese like baseball

and so, they built this stadium as a baseball stadium during the occupation

By principle, therefore, it hasn’t been used for this purpose since 1945. In fact, baseball is simply not practiced in North Korea.

Today the stadium is named Kim-Il-Song stadium. It was updated and redone for Kim-Il-Song’s 70th birthday in 1982. It seats 100,000 and is used for various sporting events, especially during the Mass (Arirang) Games. More on the games later…
